Physical Education at Mount Duneed Regional Primary School is all about enjoying the development of fundamental motor skills and game sense in a safe environment. The philosophy of the program is about promoting lifelong physical activity and wellbeing for all our students. Through our Physical Education classes students are taught the basic skills of controlling body movement, ball handling plus a range of other basic skills within various minor and major sports. As students develop increasingly complex motor skills, they will be given opportunities to then apply these to appropriately modified games and sport-specific settings. Students are also given the opportunity to participate in many various sporting clinics through the ‘Sporting Schools Program’. Our Physical Education teacher, Mr. James Ritchie, is passionate about encouraging children to be active and lead a healthy lifestyle.

Our Physical Education program provides students the opportunity to:

  • Improve their understanding of the benefits within health and fitness
  • Improve their physical skills
  • Assist body growth and development
  • Improve self-discipline
  • Increase self confidence
  • Greater self-esteem
  • Improve social skills (resilience, sportsmanship, teamwork etc.)
  • Develop a greater enthusiasm for learning, knowledge and commitment to lifelong health and physical activity
